Visiting Bouaké and the Basilica

Been back in Korhogo for about a week now after a week and a half in Bouaké. After more than 2 months away, it was nice to be back on campus with everyone.

We had a lot of arrivals during that short time: Taylor, Heidi’s boyfriend came to visit for 3 weeks. Rod and Angelika (our fearless leaders) returned from a month stay in Germany. Two guys from WorldVenture’s home office visited for a week: Aaron is the Project Manager for Journey Corps and Chris came mainly to film and take photos (which will eventually be used for recruiting). We also welcomed two new Journeyers: Kelly and Tricia!!

During the week we had a class about Acts with Pastor Keo, helped introduce Kelly and Tricia to both Journey Corps and Côte d’Ivoire (with classes, a scavenger hunt and just hanging out), had an impromptu baptism of Naomi and Steph, who’d been baptized as babies and felt convicted during class one morning (reading Acts can lead to awesome stuff like that!), and ended the week with a trip to the capital Yamossoukro, where we visited the tallest basilica in the world!

Here are some photos from the week: definitely nice having Chris and Aaron around to take these great shots!!

In Bouaké: 1-heading to town; left to right Jason, Taylor, Heidi, Nao, Alyssa, me, Steph, Tricia and Kelly. 2-walking through Bouaké market 3-Steph and Nao hugging just after their baptisms!

Visiting the Basilica in Yamoussoukro. Absolutely gorgeous and gigantic building. 1st photo below: all the Journeyers, now 11 of us! From left: Steph, Kelly, Tricia, Naomi, Holly, Chazz, Heidi, me, Devin, Alyssa, Jason.

This last one is why I love us.
